holmium laser system is used for the uroloy stones, tissue cutting, tumor removal.. 

Pinciple for the laser is on the wavelength 2100nm laser resonator.

The 2100nm wavelength is just at the high-effciency absorbtion point of water, and then cause sharp explosion of the tissue, so that cause the second burst of the stone. It made the stone burst very fast but cause very less harm to the human tissue for the power high-absorbtion of the water. 

Many clinical cases shows the safty and effciecy of the laser when doing stone fragmentation, even the animal stones fragmentation, also the spine surgery, liver stones, tumor, several cases also sucessfully done.
